This on-demand online course is specifically targeted at adults working within the education sector and on programmes that are an extension to this. It provides an overview of how to care for a child with medical needs; the legal responsibilities involved; and how to deliver, store, and dispose of medication and effectively manage dosing by various health and safety rules. This course will provide a sound knowledge of medication use and touch upon specialist treatments for specific illnesses in children. It’s the perfect online course to support practical training.

Learning outcomes

• Learn the legal responsibilities for school governors to teaching staff and parents
• Learn how to look after children who self medicate, how to handle an emergency situation and covertly administer medication
• Learn how to read pharmacist's labels, how to deliver, store and dispose of medication

PLEASE NOTE: This course is for general awareness, it does NOT qualify you to administer medication to children in schools you need formal training from an NHS practitioner, this course is not a substitute for this training.

This course will end with a 20-question multiple choice test (Certificate received upon completion with 90% pass mark).
