*NEW* Online Inclusive Activity Provider Training

Nicole

Nicole Bateman, also known as The Friendly SEND Advisor is dedicated to helping ensure that every child in your care feels supported, understood, and able to thrive.

As a late-diagnosed ADHDer, former teacher, SEND advocate, and parent of an autistic child with epilepsy, Nicole brings both lived and professional experience from the education sector. She has a deep understanding of what parents of children with SEND look for in activities and provision.

Her mission is to empower children’s activity providers, tutors, and educators with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to create inclusive environments where all children can succeed.

Using Nicole’s SEED Framework, this 3 hour online training session gives staff practical tools to create inclusive, supportive play.

Starting with inclusion basics and neurodiversity, it covers:

  • Safe and sensory-friendly spaces: Understanding the “why” behind behaviour and using environmental and emotional strategies to help children feel secure.
  • Engagement strategies: Supporting participation at each child’s pace, boosting motivation, and reducing anxiety through low-pressure adaptations.
  • Effective and inclusive communication: Strength-based, validating, and neuro-affirming approaches, including alternative communication methods and visuals.
  • Dynamic and adaptive session planning: Practical ways to adjust activities, routines, and transitions to make participation accessible for every child.

By the end of the workshop, participants will feel confident to:

  • Understand behaviour as communication linked to nervous system needs
  • Understand the sensory systems and the impact on emotional regulation
  • Support neurodivergent children with a variety of needs
  • Anticipate and reduce overwhelm during busy periods
  • Adapt play and group games without singling children out
  • Support transitions and group activities with less stress
  • Work proactively with families to understand what helps
  • Create playful environments where children feel fully understood and engage

All participants receive: A Participation certificate, The Digital Inclusive Activity Pocket Guide, Reasonable adjustments list, Sensory driven behaviours proforma, neuro-affirming language crib sheet.
